Srinagar, Apr 02: Residents of Gagangeer and Rezan areas in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have voiced strong concern over the deteriorating condition of key roads, urging authorities to take immediate steps to do the macadamisation.

Locals said that the Zuripora–Rezan link road has been in a dilapidated condition for a long time, causing immense inconvenience to commuters. They said the situation worsens during the rainy season, when potholes fill with water, making the road extremely hazardous for vehicles and pedestrians alike.

“Driving on this road has become a daily struggle. The potholes are so deep that vehicles often get damaged, and during the rains, it becomes difficult to even judge the depth of the road,” said a resident from Rezan.

Another resident said that the lack of proper road maintenance has not only affected daily commuting but also increased the risk of accidents. “Patients, school children, and elderly people are the worst sufferers. In emergencies, this road can prove life-threatening,” he added.

Residents of Gagangeer also expressed similar concerns, stating that the road stretch from Rezan to Gagangeer is in a pathetic condition. They said that despite repeated appeals, no significant steps have been taken to repair or upgrade the road.

“The road connecting Rezan to Gagangeer is potholes and uneven patches. It has turned into a nightmare for drivers. We have brought this issue to the notice of authorities several times, but nothing concrete has been done so far,” said a local from Gagangeer.

Locals further said that the poor condition of these twin roads is affecting not only transportation but also local economic activities.

The residents have appealed to the concerned authorities to prioritize the macadamisation of both the Zuripora–Rezan link road and the Rezan–Gagangeer road at the earliest. They appealed the concerned authorities to intervene and ensure macadamisation of these roads.
